Student Voice at Elizabeth Park Schools is an avenue for students to develop the culture of the school and community as well as acquire leadership skills. Through recognising, celebrating and promoting Student Voice, students are able to envision themselves as engaged and empowered community members who can become change-agents in a community as well as their personal future.
Through providing forums for students to own and run, they are provided with opportunities to practice their skills and foster values such as generosity, responsibility and organisation.
Our four Student Voice Forums are:
- Assemblies – students manage the fortnightly Assembly items eg. Snuggles, Golden Bin, I Spy and talent show. Students also welcome, interview and introduce new students and present them with a gift from the school.
- Positive Play - students timetable, run and train others in lunch time activities. Also collects data for improvement, use and management of program and celebrates “non-focus room” students at the end of each term. They are also responsible to giving out smilies.
- Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden – Students manage rosters, fundraising, stalls, working bees and artwork for the garden.
- Executive Committee – Students make links between classes, yard and Student Voice. The committee reports back to classes, models class meetings and supports classes with useful information and resources. They organise, advertise and oversee special days and provide tours for VIPs. They also write a fortnightly newsletter item and take photos of activities around the school.
